Do you object or are you bothered when visitors enter the studio when you're posing nude?
Joanne

A sense that the organizers are controlling access with honorable intent is really all I'd personally need, but context is everything. One visitor might contribute energy and appreciation, while another might leave all concerned feeling a bit slimed. I've encountered both, and I can only imagine that female models experience a bit of both too. As most of the other folks have observed, everybody's going to feel more respected if they know in advance what to expect.

Hi, I have modeled nude for from one to about fifty. The assumption is that the modeling is for art: sculpture, figure drawing, painting, sketching, photography etc. As a model my mind is continually active and concentrating on holding a pose (sometimes for hours), staying very still, and even keeping from being too bored. In other words, the modeling thing is serious and purposeful business. If others come into the area, they should know that art work with a particularly clad model is in progress. The uninformed visitor is FAR more stunned than the model. The visitor should be given the opportunity to decide if the environment is acceptable. "Oh MY GOD" and screams, tends to be distracting to the artists but not to the model.

For example, say an employee is walking down a hallway at work and quickly opens an unfamiliar door. The door swings wide open on a huge conference table with all seats occupied by the board of directors. All eyes shift to the unwelcome visitor, and the top secret discussion halts. Who is more embarrassed? Now, how about if the unwelcome visitor is nude?

Picture a university school building setting. There is a large art classroom very near a main outside entrance. The art classroom door opens directly into a wide hallway with a constant heavy flow of students using the main entrance to the building. Just inside the classroom door is a stage clearly visible from the hallway when the door is open. When art class is in session and a nude model is on the stage by the door, the door is carefully closed and locked. This situation worked fine until the end of a couple of daily art classes . The ardent professor welcomed art students to stay a few minutes extra to complete their work or reach a good stopping point, or to clean up their brushes, put away the pencils and things like that. Meanwhile the nude model is still on the stage-- by the door.

There are always some less studious students who want to leave NOW, and the door flies fully open upon the stupefied gaze and shrieks of students in the hallway. Being nude for art is one thing: Being nude for my disbelieving friends, fellow business students and the general public is very demeaning. Those in the hallway had finally discovered that it was me, 'THE nude model'. The giggly whispers and the moment too-long passing glances in the hallways and classes continued. But there was another result of the door incident.

The first time the door opened wide on me the professor offered apologetic assurances. The second time the door opened to shrieks and crashing books marked the beginning of the unplanned lesson in "how to complete the half finished life art paintings" without the life art model.

Hello All,

I have been modeling for almost 2 years now at art schools and colleges as well as private homes and have no worries at all about having others in the room or walking in as i am modeling. I enjoy being a model and don't mind others seeing my work.

[Out of curtesy and respect, it would be nice to mention to the model that there may be visitors coming to the session. In a private studio this can be controlled. In a classroom setting, there may not be as much control over when someone comes into the space where the session is taking place. Stating that fact, us models should be aware of that, and maybe expect an interuption from outside the classroom. So far, this has not happened to me. Also, not being quite a body beautiful, some people may not want to see my body type in its' natural form. Being a nudist/naturist, I'm not put off by people seeing me nude in a proper context, whether it's a nude gathering or for an artist/photographer. I'm okay being nude the way I am and willing to pose solo or with a group for whomever would need a male model. color=darkblue]

I love posing nude for art groups and often become fully aroused. I enjoy it when other people come in and watch. I find it especially exciting when artists take pictures of me, especially when I'm aroused. It is fun and exciting! The more the merrier. Would love to pose erect with another model in an erotic pose.love struck

Hi Joanne,
After modeling now for a couple of years, I find my reaction to this question different than at first. I had an interesting session the other day. It was a full class of about 18 women of all ages from 16 to 70, and one male instructor. It was a painting class where all the students were working on there separate projects. The instructor wanted to bring in a male model for another option. Unfortunately, only one of the students worked from the model. So there I was in the center of the room posing naked, but no one was really looking at me, as they were busy working on their separate project. As they moved about the room they would glance at me or turn to look at me as they passed in front of me. It was very disconcerting yet exciting as well. It's easy to pose in front of a large group when they are intently drawing you. It's even easy being on a nude beach where others are naked as well, for the most part. But to be naked and exposed like that was weirdly enjoyable. interestingly, my next job was at another art school where all the students left but one young woman at the end of the evening for the last hour. That was equally interesting, as most times I am in my own head space during the 3 hours, privately aware of my nakedness but working to give a good pose. Here I was naked in front of a young attractive woman who was talking to me about how I enjoyed modeling and such and why. I had nowhere to hide, so to speak. This is an interesting profession and all kinds of situations arise. I just have to be ready for them, I guess. What's appropriate for one group might not be for another, though.
